Color Palettes.
We have seen these kind of color palettes before but majority of them are not dedicated to Black Cinema. @Colors.blackcinema on Instagram is one of the only pages I have seen doing this type of work, so I decided to create some of my own.
Friday (1995). I had to do one for my favorite movie of all time. I have been watching it since I was in diapers, literally. It was used to quiet me down while I was coming up, so have seen it over 100 times. It is a tad inappropriate for children, since it is Stoner Comdedy. But hey, i turned out alright! I mean... right?
42 (2013). Jackie Robinson was the first African American baseball player in Major League Baseball. He broke the baseball color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. Don’t forget that movies only show so much of what actually happened. So do your research and educate yourself on black history and black lives, since they do matter.
Life (1999). During Prohibition, Ray and Claude are given life sentences for a murder they did not commit. Similar to cases today, they were black men falsey accused of committing crimes but still had to do the time. This movie is a serious yet comedic film of what they endured.
